On April 2 and 3, 2016 the 111th Illinois State Tournament was held in Marion, IL by the Illinois State Checker Association (ISCA). Thirteen players attended from four states. Play was very competitive. Retaining his title as state champion is Gene Ellison. The tournament champion is Don West. The B Class top Illinois player is Roger Doll and top scorer is Ken Christian. The tournament played using five round-robin pairing plus two Swiss paired rounds for the A Class and one 7 round round-robin for the B Class. A good time was had by everyone. The ISCA wants to specially thank Joe McDaniel for his generous donation to the prize fund. Please mark your calendar to the first weekend in October 2016 for the Illinois 101 Tournament.
